UK retailer wants to get people voting from a shortlist of 50, on the go. UK retailer Carphone Warehouse has launched an official app for its upcoming Appys awards, allowing mobile users to vote for their favourites among the 50 shortlisted apps. For now, the app is only available on iPhone, but versions for Android, BlackBerry and Symbian are coming soon according to the official Appys site. The 50 nominated apps are spread across 10 categories, with voting due to close on 3 April. Platforms covered include iOS, BlackBerry, Bada, Android, Windows Phone and Symbian. People can vote online as well as through the official app. A glitzy event on 11 April will announce the winners. Carphone roped in a panel of judges including Top Gear's Richard Hammond, Mumsnet co-founder Carrie Longton and Handcircus developer Simon Oliver - billed as 'the first British app millionaire' thanks to the success of his Rolando games.
